PETA Rebukes Decision to Pull the Plug

Doctors recently received permission to cut off life support for Suzanne Whale; her immediate family made the difficult decision late Tuesday night.

"It's what she would have wanted," said her brother, Troy Whale.  "Suzanne would hate to think of herself living in this kelp state."

Since the decision, representatives of PETA have been protesting on the beach where Suzanne washed up, bearing signs reading: "Save Suzy, You Blowholes," "Killer Whale? More like WHALE KILLER!", and "Quit Your Blubbering! Demand Justice for Suzanne!"  One young PETA participant, Cloudvine Skyye, age six, held up a sign he'd made with his parents, active PETA members Happyness Skyye and Dave Jones.  The sign read: "WWDD--What Would Dori Do?" a reference to the small, blue fish in the Walt Disney animated film Finding Nemo, who, according to Cloudvine, can communicate with whales.

Sadly, there has been no communication from Suzanne since her beaching, and the family stands by its decision.

Duanne Whale, Suzanne's uncle, sang whale songs of praise for the physicians involved and expressed heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of kind messages in bottles and pre-made plankton casseroles his family has received. "The support has been greater than we could have ever imagined. It really means a kiloton to us."  The family plans to swim low for the next few weeks and asks for privacy during this difficult time.
